Cupping is an ancient Chinese modality, where glass or bamboo cups are
applied to the skin through vacuum to create localized stimulation of
circulation. The partial vacuum within the cup is created by hear or suction.
The instrument is immediately placed on the skin in the desired location
and creates a suctioning effect on the skin. This has the effect of drawing
up the underlying tissues. When the cup is left in place like this, the
stimulated circulation helps the healing process.
Cupping has been found to affect the body up to four inches into the
tissues, causing tissues to release toxins, activate the lymphatic system,
, helps activate the veins, arteries and capillaries, activate the skin.
By creating suction, cupping is used to drain excess fluids and toxins,
loosen adhesions, lift connective tissue and bring blood flow back to
stagnant muscles and skin. Cupping is the best deep tissue massage available.
Cupping will improve blood and Qi flow to any congested part of the body
where it is used. Chinese medical theory is based on the belief that energy
known as Qi, flows through the bodys tissues and organs along a
network of channels known as meridians. This energy life-force regulates
all physical, emotional and mental processes. Imbalances or blockages
in an individuals Qi result in illness.
